Text Box: Home of the Burlington Jaycees Text Box: Mayor’s Chain of Office In the year 1958 after the amalgamation of Burlington with the Township of Nelson and part of the Township of East Flamborough, the Burlington Junior Chamber of Commerce presented a Mayor’s Chain of Office. At the time it was requested that the chain be worn by the Mayor on all occasions where he appears in his official capacity as head of the municipal council. This would be in recognition of the great responsibilities and the great dignity which is attached to the office of the Chief Magistrate and Mayor of the Town of Burlington.
